Volunteer with us

Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women’s Legal Centre is seeking two enthusiastic Practical Legal Training Placement students (minimum two days per week) to support the work of our solicitors for immediate start. All work will need to be carried out on site in Marrickville.

Position Description

Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women’s Legal Centre assists Aboriginal women and children who have been victims of domestic and sexual violence, including child sexual assault.

You will be working closely with our solicitors on a range of civil, family and care and protection matters.  Some of this work can be quite confronting and possibly triggering so you need to decide if this work is for you.

Under the supervision of a solicitor, you will be required to request, gather and review evidence, draft submissions, draft letters to clients and others and other supporting tasks as required.

You may be asked to assist with community legal education and law reform work.
